Sri Lankan Navy apprehends 8 Indian fishermen from Pudukottai

Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 8 Indian fishermen from Pudukottai Tamil Nadu and detained two fishing boats early today.

The fishermen were arrested when they were fishing near Neduntheevu islands. Fishermen sources in Rameswaram say that the fishermen were taken to Kankesanthurai.

Sri Lankan Navy had arrested 12 fishermen from Rameswaram last week. Sri Lanka had released more than 77 Indian fishermen last month on humanitarian grounds. Sri Lanka has detained more than 190 fishing boats.
