
Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani has chaired the meeting of Consultative Committee of her Ministry to discuss the efforts taken in organizing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017 and the steps to be taken to improve the next edition of IFFI.
She apprised the members of the various steps and initiatives taken by the Ministry in IFFI 2017. In an official release the Ministry said, Ms Irani mentioned that this time all committees were restructured, steering committee and preview committee have been vastly expanded.
She also emphasized that for the first time IFFI officially collaborated with Toronto and Venice Film Festivals. The Minister said, in IFFI 2017, nine Master classes were organized, 197 films were screened and 493 delegates invited.
The Members while appreciating the efforts of the Ministry in organizing IFFI 2017, said that regional films should be given more representation in IFFI.
They also appreciated the choice of films this year and the large participation of the film fraternity. They proposed to organize socially inclined film festivals like Kisan film festival.
Parliamentarians Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Vivek Gupta, Smt Dev (Moon Moon Sen) Varma, Dr Sanjay Jaiswal attended the meeting. Information and Broadcasting Secretary, NK Sinha and other senior officers of the Ministry were also present on the occasion.
