The stone pelting incidents have considerably come down in Jammu and Kashmir post-demonetization of high-value currency notes. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Hansraj Ahir said, the overall security situation in the country has also shown improvement after the note ban.

The Minister said, 90 lakh rupees were seized from Maoist cadres and sympathisers and 564 Maoists surrendered after the demonetization. In North East, insurgency incidents are at a low ebb in many states. The Minister, however, said that the number of terror incidents has increased from 311 in November 2015 to October 2016 to 341 in November 2016 to October 2017.
