In Jammu & Kashmir, security forces have arrested three local militants during ongoing anti militancy operation in Nowbugh Kund village in Devsar Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. One among arrested militants was arrested in injured condition during gunfight.
Addressing the press in Srinagar, Inspector General Police (IGP) Kashmir Range Munir Khan said the operation to flush out more militants in the Haalan-Kund forest belt in south Kashmir’s Qazigund stretch is in progress. Sources said two to three militants may have gone into hiding in dense woods in the area.
In reply to a question, Khan said at least 16 to 18 militants were arrested in different anti-militancy operations during past four months. He said Pakistan has started relentless social media campaign to lure youth to join militancy.
Two arrested militants were presented before media during the press conference while the third injured militant is under treatment at hospital.
An A- category Hizb militant Muzamil Manzoor and an army man Sepoy Manjinder Singh were killed and a policeman injured in the day-long gunfight on Tuesday.
The security forces had laid cordon in the area after receiving inputs about the movement of militants in the forest range.
