Supreme Court will hear today a Gujarat Congress petition challenging the Election Commission’s decision to use NOTA option in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls in the state.

The plea was mentioned before the apex court yesterday seeking an urgent hearing on the ground that there was no statutory provision for NOTA option in the ballot paper for these elections.

The Congress approached the Election Commission on Tuesday against the use of NOTA option in the polls. It had claimed that the option was violative of the Constitution and electoral laws.
