
The Supreme Court took strong note today of huge vacancy in police force in six states and asked their Home Secretaries to either personally appear or depute an officer to assist it.
A bench headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar referred to the vacancy in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, and summoned the home secretaries or officers authorised by them for assisting it on Friday.
The six states have been asked to provide the roadmap as to how they wish to fill up the vacancies with the apex court for monitoring by it on Friday.
