
Railways has ordered a high level inquiry into Mumbai’s Elphinston road suburban station footover bridge stampede this morning killing 22 people and injuring over 30.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said in Mumbai today that a complete ‘safety and capacity’ audit of all the Footover bridges across the suburban train network will be done. He said inquiry report on the incident will come within 10 days. The Minister also announced an ex gratia of 10 lakh rupees to the next of the kin of those who died in the incident.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed condolences to those who have lost their lives in the incident
