President Ram Nath Kovind invites Czech defence companies to invest in India

President Ram Nath Kovind has said that India’s growth story and Czech technological expertise and manufacturing prowess make the two countries natural partners.

Mr Kovind emphasised New Delhi’s keenness to cooperate with the Czech Republic in the fields of defence, technology and manufacture, business and trade, as well as on issues of multilateral importance such as terrorism.

Speaking at the India Czech Business forum in Prague last night, President invited Czech defence companies to invest in India.

Mr Kovind said, defence production in India has been opened for the private sector and Indian companies are looking at Czech defence majors to partner them. He said, there is immense potential for India-Czech defence collaboration to meet the growing requirements of the Indian defence industry.

Mr Kovind said there is scope for Indian and Czech companies to engage in new-age technologies and join hands to reap the benefits of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

India and the Czech Republic also finalised five MoUs including in the fields of laser technology, exemptions from visa requirements for Diplomatic passport holders and Work Plan for support of Indo-Czech projects in diverse areas of science and technology, agriculture and life sciences.

Today President Kovind will be addressing students at the Charles University. He will also visit the International Laser Research Centre ELI Bemalines.
