
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting French President Emmanuel Macron will hold delegation level talks in New Delhi today.
During the talks, both the leaders are expected to review the progress achieved in bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Several agreements are expected to be signed in various areas.
In the morning, the French President was accorded ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhawan. On the occasion, Mr Macron said, India and France are two great democracies having a historic and long-term relationship.
The visiting leader will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj will call on him. Mr Macron arrived in New Delhi last night on a four-day visit to India. He was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the airport.
Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, Joint Secretary in the MEA K Nagaraj Naidu said, India has a very deep engagement with France in several areas including space. He said issues of maritime security and terrorism will be discussed during the visit of French President.
