
BJP president Amit Shah will today inaugurate the new Deen Dayal Upadhyaya railway station, which was earlier known as Mughalsarai. BJP’s national media coordinator Anil Baluni said, the railway junction will be renamed formally at a grand ceremony which will also be attended among others by Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The three leaders will flag off a passenger train and a goods train with an all-woman crew, and also launch a smart yard project at the century-old station on the busy Delhi-Howrah route. Officials said, they will launch a project to upgrade the yard at the station.
Railway officials said, it will be the first time in the country that an all-woman crew will run a goods train.
Union Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha and other senior BJP leaders will also be present.
On paper, Mughalsarai station got a new name after Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik gave his assent to the proposal in June. The Centre gave its in-principle approval last year to the state government’s proposal to rename the station, which is among the busiest in the country.
As per information received, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath , Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Union Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha will be present in the ceremony in which BJP President Amit Shah will inaugurate new station. The three leaders will flag off a passenger train and a goods train with an all-woman crew, and also launch a smart yard project. Amit Shah and CM Yogi Adityanath will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the platform on which the proposed statue of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay will stand.
Ekatmata Express, now set to follow a new route from Lucknow to Mughalsarai, will also be getting the green signal today. All leaders will also address a rally there. Famous Jansangh leader Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay was found dead in mysterious circumstances near the Mughalsarai station in February 1968. Mughalsarai is a part of the Chandauli Parliamentary seat which is presently held by UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey.
