
In Bihar, a joint meeting of the RJD and Congress legislators has been convened today in Patna in view of Presidential election on Monday. The JD(U) has also convened a meeting of its legislators at the residence of Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. While JD(U) has decided to support NDA Presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind, the RJD supports the Opposition candidate, Meira Kumar. The BJP legislators have also convened a meeting today.
Although JD(U) meeting has been convened to discuss election of the President, it is said the party President Nitish Kumar will also discuss the ongoing political situation following the CBI raids on Lalu Prasad and his family members.
Ahead of today’s meeting JD(U ) spokesperson Sanjay Singh said the party will not compromise on corruption. He said the RJD and Congresses should break deadlock as the JD(U) has clarified its stand. Meanwhile senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should take step to sack Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav.
Meanwhile Bihar Congress President Ashok Chaudhary is meeting RJD Chief Lalu Prasad at his residence in Patna, in a bid to resolve the ongoing political stand off. Sources said Mr Chaudhary has taken this step after getting instruction from Party high command. It is understood that the Congress is trying its best to avert destabilization of grand alliance government in the state.
