Human Resource Development Ministry has issued fresh guidelines for Selection of Teachers for the National Awards. In a statement, the Ministry said, teachers of Government schools can now send their entries directly for the awards.
This is a new initiative, as earlier entries were selected by the State Governments. The purpose of the National Award to Teachers is to celebrate the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers and to honour those teachers, who have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of students.
The Ministry said, all the applications would be received through an online web portal which would be developed and managed by the Administrative Staff College of India. An independent national jury will finalise the nominations for the awards.
