Heatwave continues to grip several parts of the country

The intense heatwave condition is continuing in several parts of the country. Hot weather conditions prevailed in the national capital yesterday with the mercury settling at 43 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature rose to settle at 29 degrees Celsius which is three notches above the normal. Delhi’s power demand also soared to the year’s highest at a staggering 6,021 Mega Watt.

The MeT office has forecast overcast conditions with developments of thunder and lightning in some parts of the city today.

The Met Office has said that onset of the southwest monsoon over Kerala this year is likely to be close to the normal date on 30th May.
