Terming the development as sad, painful and agonizing, Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande criticized government for failing to secure Mr Jadhav’s release. She said that It’s time the government should give a tit-for-tat response to Pakistan.
Pakistan claims its security forces had arrested Mr Jadhav from the restive Balochistan province on March 3 last year after he reportedly entered from Iran. He was sentenced to death by a military court in a secret trial for alleged “espionage and sabotage activities” and Pakistan’s army chief has approved his execution. The Indian government has maintained proceedings that have led to the sentence against Mr Jadhav are farcical in the absence of any credible evidence against him.
Meanwhile, as the news of the sentencing Mr Jadhav to death surfaced, people flocked to his family’s apartment in Mumbai but found it to be locked. It was later revealed that Mr Jadhav’s family members had moved to Pune and no one was staying in the flat.
