Government today asserted that it will bring fugitive Vijay Mallya back to India and legal procedure will be followed. Reacting to Mallya’s arrest in London, Minister of State for Finance Santosh Gangwar said the UPA government had given big loans to the liquor baron and NDA regime is taking action for loan recovery. He said the government will take firm action against the offenders like Vijay Mallya and will not protect anyone.
Meanwhile, CBI said the action against Mallya followed its extradition request. The agency had registered a case against the Indian businessman in 2015 and a chargesheet was filed in January this year and thereafter in February extradition request was made to the British authorities.
