
Union Water Resources Ministry held a consultation meeting in New Delhi with top bureaucrats of the Cauvery basin states, of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry to discuss the modalities of a scheme which will be implemented in the light of a recent Supreme Court order in connection with the dispute.
Sources in the Ministry said it was decided at the meeting yesterday that the member states would submit their recommendations regarding the structure of the scheme, functions of its members and responsibilities.
The scheme has to be in place within six weeks from 16th of February 16, when the apex court had pronounced its verdict, that is, by this month-end.
The meeting was chaired by Water Resources Ministry Secretary UP Singh.
He told reporters after the meeting that the meeting was called for consultation to know the views of the four states
