Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has pitched for an amicable resolution of the issue involving domestic airlines’ blanket ban on Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Ms. Mahajan said MPs need to attend Parliament and they cannot always travel by train. She said she feels this issue should be resolved amicably through talks. Ms. Mahajan, however, said that she was not the one to pass a judgement but was trying to help resolve the issue.
Earlier, six Shiv Sena MPs met the Speaker over the issue. Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju was also present at the meeting.
Last week, Ravindra Gaikwad had allegedly thrashed an Air India employee while flying from Pune to Delhi. Later, Air India and other airlines barred him from flying on their network.
