In Jammu and Kashmir, a fierce encounter is going on between holed up militants and security forces in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan told media that security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police have launched a joint operation following a tip off about the presence of militants at Arwani in Kulgam district, where a police constable was killed and a woman injured by gunmen last evening.
Additional security forces and state police personnel have been rushed to the area to prevent stone pelting demonstrators from entering Arwani. Our correspondent reports that authorities have blocked 3G/4G mobile Internet services across the Kashmir valley.
