
Durga Puja, festival marks the victory of Good over Evil, being celebrated with enthusiasm and religious fervour across the country.
The festival starts with invocation of the Goddess Durga. The festival will come to an end with the immersion of the idols of the goddess in rivers and water bodies across the country on 30th this month.
In Kolkata the puja is usually a five-day event with Sasthi and the subsequent four days Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami.
Beautifully decorated clay idols of Goddess Durga, Saraswati, Laxmi, Kartik and Ganesh are unveiled to the devotees.
Many pandals have arranged Ananda Mela and the devotees of all ages have started gathering at different Puja pandals to worship Goddess Durga.
In Agartala, capital of Tripura, people celebrates four day festival starting from “Saptami”. Today, on the occasion in the city, thousands of people of different age and caste and community went out on lively pandals.
The Puja pandals presenting artistic themes, various forms of Goddess Durga, craft-works, and illumination have given a unique dimension altogether. Police said, around 2,400 Durga pandals are being organised throughout the state.
