The Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea seeking direction to the government to approach the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for securing the release of death row convict Kulbhushan Jadhav from a jail in Pakistan.

Accepting the stand of Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, the court said, government is taking all steps to get Jadhav back and the court does not want to interfere in the measures.

The court was hearing a petition filed by a social activist who had sought direction to approach the Hague-based ICJ to provide consular access to Jadhav.

Pakistan Army Chief had, on 10th of this month, confirmed the death sentence awarded to Jadhav, a former Naval officer, by a military court after he was convicted of alleged espionage.
