This was stated by the anti-corruption watchdog’s Chief KV Chowdary in an interview. He said, the Commission has sought relevant data in this regard from the Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT), the apex policy-making body for the Income Tax department.
The CVC Chief said, he had discussions with CBDT, which is already doing the exercise for everybody, on how to conduct the probe as the number of transactions involving cash deposits for the country as a whole is very huge.
He said, CVC will look into the cases of central government employees and the staff of central public sector undertakings which are within the jurisdiction of the Commission.
