Convictions in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots have been achieved due to the Special Investigation Team set up by the NDA government after coming to power in 2014, said BJP President Amit Shah.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday, Mr. Shah said there were no convictions even after 34 years due to laxity in probe by police.
Referring to allegations of a journalist that he had seen Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath leading a march against Sikhs, Mr. Shah said the SIT is well-equipped to bring all the cases to their logical end.
On the Ayodhya case, Mr. Shah said it is a title suit and the government has requested the court to clear the case at the earliest.
Talking about triple talaq, the BJP President said the bill is a social reform and the issue is not a religious one.
He said many Islamic countries do not allow triple talaq and now it is up to the opposition parties to show whether they support Muslim women or not.
