Centre today released drought assistance to the tune of over 1700 crore rupees to Tamil Nadu, and approximately 1235 crores to Karnataka. The High Level Committee of the Union Government recommended the quantum of assistance on the basis of reports of inter-ministerial central teams.
The Centre has advised the state governments to ensure, individual beneficiary-oriented assistance is mandatorily disbursed through bank account of the beneficiaries. These assistances are in addition to the share of states from Central Taxes, according to the recommendation of 14th Finance Commission.
