Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said the Centre is committed to honour its assurances as per the Andhra Pradesh Re-organization Act of 2014.

Making a statement in the Rajya Sabha today, Mr Jaitley, who is also the Leader of the House, said the Centre had already provided 3,900 crore rupees to Andhra Pradesh as revenue deficit after its bifurcation.

He said the government is working on providing assistance to the state under a special package. Mr Jaitley said Andhra Pradesh’s Finance Secretary will hold discussions with the Expenditure Secretary in New Delhi shortly to work out on getting assistance from externally-aided projects. The assurance comes in the wake of demands from Telugu Desam Party members.
