Supreme Court today asked Gujarat Government if there has been any departmental action against cops convicted in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case.

Chief Justice of India Justice Dipak Misra questioned how convicted policemen could go back to active service. The Apex Court also called for a status report in the case. Bilkis Bano was allegedly gang-raped by a mob during 2002 Gujarat riots.

On higher compensation sought by Bilkis Bano the supreme Court allowed her to file separate plea seeking enhancement of compensation awarded to her by lower courts.
