
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed hope that bilateral ties with Bangladesh will be taken to a new level. Mr. Modi said this in a tweet after receiving his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina, who arrived in New Delhi on a four day visit to India, today.
In a special gesture, Mr. Modi drove to the Delhi airport to receive her. The two Prime Ministers will hold talks tomorrow at Hyderabad House where they will discuss entire gamut of bilateral relations. In the evening, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on the visiting dignitary at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Bangladesh’s Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina will be accorded ceremonial reception at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhawan tomorrow morning. She will visit Rajghat, the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi to lay wreath. Ms Hasina along with Mr Modi will attend ‘Sommanona Ceremony’ in the evening to honour Indian Martyrs who sacrificed in the liberation of Bangladesh.
As per reports, more than 20 pacts are set to be inked after delegation level talks between the two Prime Ministers. Two agreements are expected to be signed in the area of defence. India will extend Line of Credit of 500 million dollars to Bangladesh for defence purchases.
India will also be entering into an inter governmental agreement on civil nuclear energy with Bangladesh. Bus service connecting two cities of India and Bangladesh and train services involving West Bengal and Bangladesh will be launched during the visit.
