2000 criminal cases filed in connection with encroachment on waqf properties in last 3 years, says Naqvi

Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said that during the last three years more than two thousand criminal cases have been filed in connection with encroachment on waqf properties by waqf mafia.

Addressing the 76th meeting of Central Waqf Council in New Delhi, he said strict action has been taken against several people sitting at top posts in waqf boards.

Mr Naqvi said several waqf properties have been under the clutches of powerful waqf mafia due to criminal conspiracy among them and some waqf boards.

He said Government has launched a campaign against the encroachments on waqf properties as well as Enemy Properties. Some of the complaints have been forwarded to CBI also, he said. Mr Naqvi said waqf properties are being utilised for socio-economic and educational empowerment of the needy people of the society.
