Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain today said, recruitment for railways are taking place at the grass root level instilling confidence among rural youth. Mr Gohain was addressing the gathering at the Sports Conclave in Delhi. He said, Indian railways is a reservoir of sports persons and providing opportunities for youth to take up sports as their career.
Chairman Railway Board AK Mital, who was also present said, railway zones should focus on developing centres of excellence in Sports to take region specific advantage.
As per information received, Railway Sports Promotion Board has organized one-day conclave on sports to identify crucial areas for co-operation among all the stakeholders. Leading sports personalities Boxer Mary Kom, Footballer Bhaichung Bhutia and wrestlers Sushil Kumar and Sakshi Malik were among those who attended the conclave.
