In a major breakthrough, a special court in Ranchi has awarded 14 years imprisonment to RJD President and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fourth fodder scam case.
As per information received, a special CBI court in Ranchi has awarded Lalu Prasad a 7-year imprisonment under Indian Penal Code and another 7 years under Prevention of Corruption Act. Moreover, the court has also imposed 60 lakh rupees as fine.
Notably, the case relates to fraudulent withdrawals of over 3 crore rupees from December 1995 to January 1996 from the Dumka treasury.
The court had, on Monday, convicted Lalu Prasad after finding him guilty on the charges of conspiracy and corruption in the case.
The RJD Chief is already serving a jail term in Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail since last December after his conviction in three other fodder scam cases.
