India, Oman enjoy historic ties which span more than thousands of years: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India and Oman enjoy historic ties which span more than thousands of years. Addressing the Indian diaspora in a community event at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat this evening, Mr Modi said he wanted to visit Oman for a long time.

He expressed pride that Indians are contributing to the growth of Oman as country’s goodwill ambassadors. He added that India and Indians have played a significant role in the country’s progress. He expressed happiness at witnessing a mini India today and said that thousands of Indians are working as doctors, engineers, and managers in the country.

Mr Modi said the Sultan of Oman has an inseparable bond with India. The Prime Minister said the aim of his visit is to further strengthen the bonds between India and Oman.

Stating that he was invited to give the keynote address at the World Government Summit in Dubai, Mr Modi said it reflects the respect India has earned at global state.

The Prime Minister pointed out that with the mantra of ‘Minimum Government Maximum Governance’, his government has helped simplify the lives of common people. He said every Indian is working towards fulfilling the resolution of ‘New India’ today.

He said his government is making procedures simpler, abolishing unnecessary laws, and listening to people’s problems with sincerity and taking action on them.

As per information received, Prime Minister reached Muscat this evening on the final leg of his tour to West Asia and the Gulf. He was received by Deputy Prime Minister for Council of Ministers of Oman Sayyid Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al Said and given a ceremonial reception.

Mr Modi will hold talks with Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said Al Said later tonight. Both leaders will discuss a range of issues after which several agreements are likely to be signed. Mr Modi is also scheduled to meet Deputy Prime Ministers Fahd bin Mahmoud al-Said and Sayyid Asaad before returning home tomorrow.

Ahead of his visit to Muscat, Mr Modi had said, Oman is a close maritime neighbour with whom India enjoys excellent relations. He said, he will hold talks with the Sultan and other key leaders and interact with leading businesspersons of Oman on developing stronger economic and business links with India.
