
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit cyclone Ockhi affected areas of Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala today.
During his visit, Prime Minister will review the situation arising in the aftermath of the cyclone and the status of relief operations, at Kavaratti, Kanyakumari, and Thiruvananthapuram.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said he will meet cyclone victims, fishermen, farmers, officials and public representatives. He said since cyclone struck, Centre has been monitoring the situation round the clock and ensuring proper rescue and relief operations.
Mr Modi said Centre has been working closely with the governments of the Ockhi affected states. Prime Minister said government stands shoulder to shoulder with all those affected by the cyclone.
As per reports, Prime Minister will visit the affected areas of Lakshadweep in the first half of the day. In the afternoon he will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram, where he will be received by Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others.
He will leave for Kanyakumari to take stock of the disaster and relief measures after that. In the evening, Mr Modi will visit the worst hit Poonthura region in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
He is also scheduled to meet the affected fishermen families, the state administration and other officials concerned, before leaving for Delhi.
