Venkaiah Naidu calls upon political parties to strive together for development

Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu today stressed the need for more functional parliament and state legislature for development of the country. He was speaking after Telangana state government accorded him a civil felicitation on the lawns of the Rajbhavan in Hyderabad today.

He called upon political parties and leaders across party lines to strive together for the development of the country. Underscoring the need for achieving good governance in the country, even 70 years after Independence, he asked them to serve the poorest of the poor in the society.

Referring to Andhra Pradesh reorganisation, he asked people of the Two Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and their Chief Ministers to amicably solve all issues through dialogue and strive for development of the two states. He also asked to give Telugu language priority in curriculum and also at official level to protect its uniqueness.

Telugu states Governor, ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister Chandrasekhar RAO, several ministers, a number of public representatives, several senior officials and a large number of people attended the programme. Earlier, the Vice-President was accorded a arousing reception at Begumpet airport where he arrived by a special aircraft.
