Stone pelting cases decline in J&K due to NIA: Rajnath Singh

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said that incidents of stone-pelting have declined in Jammu and Kashmir due to the role of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Speaking after inaugurating the office and residential complex of the NIA in Lucknow, he said, the incidents of naxalism, terrorism and extremism have also seen a downward trend in the last three years. Emphasising on finishing terror funding sources, he said, if sources of fake currency and terror funding is plugged, it will be a big blow to terrorism. NIA is doing a great job in this field. Mr. Singh said, the name of NIA sends fear down the spine of those indulging in terror funding.

Addressing a function on inauguration of branch office of National Investigation Agency NIA at Lucknow he said that 75 percent decrease has been recorded in terror incidents and 40 percent in Naxal activates. He underlined the roll of NIA in controlling of antinational activities in the country.

Addressing the function Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that security agencies engaged in curbing the terror activities must be strengthen with technology and infrastructure. He said his government has taken steps to strengthen ATS of UP Police. He underlined the better coordination among agencies of Centre and State engaged against terror outfits and their activities. He said that a high level meeting must be organised between state organisations and NIA on every six months for exchange of information and coordination.
