990 personnel have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the Independence Day this year.
President’s Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded posthumously to Chhattisgarh Police’s Special Task Force Platoon Commander Shankar Rao who was martyred in a Maoist ambush in Sukma in April this year.
Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to 190 personnel, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service to 93 personnel and Police Medal for Meritorious Service have been given to 706 personnel.
