In Jammu and Kashmir, the annual Amarnath yatra is concluding today on the occasion of Shrawan Purnima that coincides with the Raksha Bandhan today. On Raksha Bandhan coinciding with Shrawan Purnima today, the last batch of Yatris will offer obeisance at the holy cave and will have darshan of ice lingam.
During 39 days of Yatra till yesterday evening, about 2 lakh 60 thousand Yatris had darshan of ice lingam at the Holy cave since beginning of the pilgrimage on 29th of June.
Last year, more than 02 Lakh 20 thousand yatris had darshan of ice lingam during 48 day Yatra. Besides multi-tier security arrangements, the divisional administration had put in place various facilities for the Yatris.
AIR Correspondent reports that the holy silver mace of Lord Shiva called Chhari Mubarak reached Holy Cave from Panchtarni halting point on the traditional Pahalgam Yatra route. The devotees including Sadhus, Sadhvis and other pilgrims performed Puja for about two hours inside Cave,marking culmination of this year’s 40 day Yatra. Devotees including local Kashmiri Pandits and tourists were seen visiting Shankaracharya Temple on Mount Shankaracharya in Srinagar.
