
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said in the Lok Sabha today that Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed rail project (MAHSR) has been sanctioned for implementation with technical and financial assistance of the Japan government.
He said, an MoU between India and Japan has been signed for training of 4,000 officials of Indian railways and 137 officers so far have been trained. Mr Prabhu informed the House that procurement of high speed rolling stocks is an integral part of MAHSR project and the government envisages promoting make in India of high speed rolling stock in phased manner.
