Union Min Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurates IMD’s Doppler Weather Radar

Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday inaugurated Doppler Weather Radar built by Indian Meteorological Department at Kochi. The facility is built as part of the modernization of observational network by replacing conventional net work using indigenous technology.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said that with the commissioning of new station sixty per cent of the country is covered with Doppler Weather Radar in the network of Indian Meteorological Department. Fifty more such radars will be installed in the country in near future.

Later talking to newsmen he said that Indian scientists are not inferior to none and best in the world and are capable of developing things indigenously citing the examples of successful launch of INSAT III.

He further informed that to solve the severe drinking water shortage in the country, Desalination Mission will be launched in the country with the support of NITI Ayog.
