MoU to be Signed for Compressed Biogas Plants in Six Municipal Corporations of Chhattisgarh

A tripartite agreement will be signed between the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA), Gail India Limited (GAIL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the establishment of Compressed Biogas Plants in six municipal corporations of Chhattisgarh, namely Ambikapur, Raigarh, Korba, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, and Dhamtari.
The agreement will be signed on January 17 at 10 am in the Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao will also be present at the event.
The agreement will be signed between the respective municipal corporation, CBDA, and GAIL India Limited for the establishment of Compressed Biogas Plants in Ambikapur, Raigarh, and Korba. Similarly, for the establishment of plants in Bilaspur, Dhamtari, and Rajnandgaon, an agreement will be signed between the respective municipal corporation, CBDA, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation.
These municipal corporations will produce approximately 70 metric tons of compressed biogas daily using approximately 350 metric tons of municipal solid waste and approximately 500 metric tons of surplus biomass. GAIL and BPCL will invest 600 crores for the establishment of these plants. The establishment of these plants will create approximately 2 lakh man-days of direct and indirect employment in the state annually. The organic manure produced as a by-product in these plants will promote organic farming in the state. It will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and make the environment clean.
