Raipur, 27 September
Under the special initiative of Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration & Development Minister Shri Arun Sao, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has sanctioned ₹50 crore for the establishment of Model Service Centers in urban local bodies across Chhattisgarh.
In the first phase, these service centers will be set up in all 14 municipal corporations and all 55 municipalities of the state. These centers will function as integrated hubs for citizens to access a wide range of services such as issuance of certificates and licenses, registrations, and grievance redressal.
The Government of India has approved the amount under the Municipal Shared Services Centre (MSSC) initiative to set up Citizen Experience Centres, which will serve as one-stop centers for all services related to urban local bodies.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for approving the state’s proposal to establish Model Service Centers in urban bodies. He said:
“This initiative reflects our government’s commitment to good governance. Our goal is to ensure transparent, timely, and accessible services to every citizen of Chhattisgarh. These Model Service Centers will significantly strengthen urban governance and enhance the quality of life for all residents.”
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao shared that, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and under the good governance model of CM Vishnu Deo Sai, the state is implementing well-planned strategies to deliver better services to citizens in urban areas.
Through SUDA (State Urban Development Agency), a proposal was submitted to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the Municipal Shared Services Centre initiative. The central government approved the proposal and sanctioned ₹50 crore for setting up Citizen Experience Centres.
These centers will act as one-stop hubs for municipal services, including certificates (birth, death, marriage), licenses (business, vending, advertisement), tax payments (property, water/sewage, solid waste), municipal property bookings, grievance redressal, and digital inclusion services.
Shri Sao thanked Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, for approving the proposal and extended his congratulations to the people of Chhattisgarh.
About Model Service Centers
Model Service Centers will function as integrated units providing all citizen-centric services under one roof in urban local bodies. These centers will also be linked to existing digital platforms like Nidaan-1100, Mor Sangwari, property tax systems, and other urban administration portals.
How Citizens Will Access Services
To avail services, citizens will visit the Model Service Center and submit applications related to the service they require. Based on the nature of the application, the urban local body will resolve the matter within a stipulated time frame through the center. The entire process will be connected via an online system, and monitoring will be done through the State-level Command and Control Center at SUDA.
