Minister directs to expedite paddy lifting

A meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee was held under the chairmanship of Food Minister Dayal Das Baghel at the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. The meeting reviewed various farmer-related issues, including paddy procurement arrangements, paddy lifting for custom milling, adequate arrangement of gunny bags for farmers, and token status.
The committee directed the concerned officials to ensure that paddy procurement and lifting are carried out smoothly. So far, 63.14 lakh metric tons of paddy have been procured, and an amount of Rs 14058 crore has been paid to 13.19 lakh farmers. The committee also instructed the officials to expedite the lifting of paddy for custom milling.
The meeting was attended by various ministers, including Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam, Forest and Climate Change Minister Kedar Kashyap, and Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.
It is worth noting that last year, a record 144.92 lakh metric tons of paddy were procured in Chhattisgarh. This year, the state is expected to procure 160 lakh metric tons of paddy.
