The Chhattisgarh Government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana is emerging as a significant economic support system for women in rural areas, positively impacting household finances and children’s education. The scheme, under which eligible women receive a monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000, has widened its reach across villages, enabling greater financial independence.

Smt. Rabina Pisda, a resident of Pandaritrai village in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district, illustrates the scheme’s impact at the grassroots. The monthly transfer, she says, is a vital supplement to her family income. “This amount helps me buy educational materials and essentials for my son,” she remarked. The assistance allowed her to purchase a school bag, slate, pencils, shoes, and other required items when her son started first grade this year. With her husband engaged in agriculture and herself assisting on the family’s farmland, Smt. Pisda shared that savings were once scarce. “Now, I am able to put aside a small amount every month and contribute towards a more secure future for my son,” she added.

Thousands of women like Smt. Pisda have echoed similar experiences, highlighting the Mahtari Vandan Yojana’s role in enhancing both economic stability within rural households. Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Smt Laxmi Rajwade, beneficiaries have credited the scheme for opening avenues to self-reliance and fostering women’s participation in family and economic decisions.
