Six farmers killed in Madhya Pradesh agitation ; CM blames Congress for politicising it


In Madhya Pradesh, the death toll in the violent incidents during farmers agitation in Mandsour district has risen to six.

Now the situation is under control in the affected areas. As per information received, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the entire state especially in western Madhya Pradesh in the wake of a statewide bandh call today by some farmers organistions and opposition parties.

According to information received, farmers agitation took violent turn in Mandsour district yesterday as six farmers died and two injured in firing in Pipaliamandia of Mandsour.

The administration has claimed that firing was not done by the police. The agitating farmers set ablaze several vehicles. Curfew has been imposed in Pipaliamandi and some other parts of the district to control the situation. Internet services have been stalled in Mandsour, Neemuch and some other places. A judicial inquiry has been ordered into the whole incident.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an ex-gratia of one crore rupees each to the relatives of deceased farmers and five lakhs to the injured. He said that a government job will also be offered to a family member of each deceased.

Farmers in several parts of the state are on strike from first of this month. Their demands include right prices for their produces.
