MP CM appeals farmers to maintain peace, says govt ready for discussion


In Madhya Pradesh, uneasy calm prevailed in violence hit Mandsour district. Incidents of stone pelting, arson and protest marches were also reported from Dewas, Ujjain, Sehore, Dhar, Badwani and other places yesterday.

Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has once again appealed farmer to maintain peace. In a series of tweets, he said that the state government has always been ready for discussions.

Mr. Chouhan said the state government has decided to set up the Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Input Cost and Marketing Commission.

This commission will decide the input cost of different crops and devise a formula to ensure justified prices for farmers. The state government will procure tuar and moong at support price from 10th of this month.

Mandsour administration has assured citizens that there is no need to panic and things will soon improve as adequate security forces have been deployed to tackle the situation.

State BJP president Nandkumar Chouhan, state Congress president Arun Yadav, leader of opposition Ajay Singh and some other leaders were denied entry in Mandsour to maintain law and order.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav have announced their programmes to visit the families of the deceased farmers in Mandsour today.

A war of words has also begun between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress over spread of violence during the farmers agitation.
