
Madhya Pradesh will be awarded with Centre’s Krishi Karman Award for 2015-16 for wheat production. A Public Relations department officer said in Bhopal that Centre has announced to confer on Madhya Pradesh the prestigious Krishi Karman Award 2015-16 for the fifth consecutive year.
MP wheat production in 2015-16 stood at 184.10 lakh tonnes as against 171.03 lakh tonnes in 2014-15, a rise of 7.64 per cent. Wheat productivity grew to 3,115 kilograms per hectare in the state, which was was 2,850 kgs per hectare last year.
The award instituted by the Agriculture Ministry carries a trophy, citation and cash prize of 2 crore rupees. In addition, the cash reward of 2 lakh rupees and a citation letter will be handed over to a woman and a male farmer as ‘best wheat producer’.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has congratulated all farmers, officers of the agriculture department and organisations connected with agriculture development.
