Innovative initiatives taken to tackle solid waste management in Madhya Pradesh

Innovative initiatives have been taken to tackle solid waste management in Madhya Pradesh. All the 378 urban bodies of the state have been divided into 26 clusters under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

The production of organic fertilizers and organic manure is being made from waste through public-private partnership system.

As per information received, 4100 crore rupees are being invested in these projects throughout the state.

All the 26 projects of manure and power generation are being implemented speedily. Power plants are being set up in Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Rewa and Ratlam, while production of 10 MW Electricity from waste has already been started in Jabalpur.

About 3500 tonnes of garbage is being collected every day in 78 units across the state, with the target of producing 72 MW of electricity. On the other hand, 20 waste manure projects are being set up at the cost of 1326 crores rupees.

About 450 tonnes of organic manure will be made in 300 urban bodies. One hopes with the use of organic manure in agriculture, the land will also be more productive.
