The Congress has faced humiliating defeat in Bandhavgarh segment as BJP’s Shivnarayan Singh defeated its candidate Savitri Singh by a huge margin of over 25 thousand votes.

The seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes. Bandhavgar was vacated by Shivnarayan Singh’s father Gyan Singh, who was elected from the Shahdol Lok Sabha segment in a by-poll.

There is a tough contest going on between Congress and BJP in Ater assembly segment of Bhind district. By-poll has been held in Ater due to death of sitting Congress MLA Satyadev Katare. Congress has given ticket to his son Hemant in this by-election. Result of Ater is likely to come by evening as the counting will be completed in 21 rounds.
