Joint Raid on 25 Medical Stores in Raipur

Following the directives of the state’s Home Minister, Shri Vijay Sharma, and Health Minister, Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, a joint raid was conducted by drug inspectors and Raipur police on 25 medical stores located at various places in Raipur district.

This intensive inspection was carried out under the leadership of the Controller of Food and Drug Administration, Chhattisgarh, ASP Crime Raipur, and Assistant Drug Controller Raipur. The primary objective of the raid was to control the illegal trade of narcotic drugs.

A total of 12 drug inspectors and a 14-member team from the police department, including an inspector, sub-inspector, head constable, and constables, participated in the raid. This constituted a total of 26 officials from both departments. A total of 12 teams were formed for the inspection.

During the raid, test purchases were made, and narcotic drugs were recovered from 11 stores: 1. Sumit Medical Stores, Pachpedi Naka, 2. Maa Bhavani Medical Stores, Gudhiyari, 3. Ganpati Medical Stores, Gudhiyari, 4. Royal Medical Stores, Mathpurena, 5. Satkar Medical Stores, Fafadih, 6. Master Medical Stores, Fafadih, 7. Sagar Medical Stores, Birgaon, 8. Lakshmi Medical Stores, Kharora, 9. Chhaya Medical Stores, Bhaisa Arang, 10. Shri Ram Medical Stores, Kaulaspuri Tikrapara, 11. Rishi Medical Stores, Santoshi Nagar. These stores were found to be without the necessary sales documents. Legal action under the Drug Act is being taken against these medical stores.

Other medical stores were found to be violating drug regulations, and notices have been issued to them seeking explanations. If satisfactory replies are not received, action will be taken against them as per the rules.

Earlier, on December 2, 2024, a joint raid was conducted by the drug and police departments on 30 stores in Raipur district. As a result of the inspection, the licenses of 2 medical stores were canceled, and the licenses of 12 stores were suspended.

Similarly, on December 11, 2024, a joint raid was conducted on 45 stores in Bilaspur district, and the licenses of 29 stores were suspended.
To control the illegal trade of narcotic drugs in medical stores across the state, the drug and police departments will be conducting joint raids in a phased manner in the future.

In summary, the raid was conducted to curb the illegal sale of narcotic drugs in medical stores in Raipur. Multiple medical stores were found violating drug regulations and legal action is being taken against them.
