Joint effort of hospital and police prevent kidnapping of newborn baby

A one-day-old baby boy was saved from being kidnapped today due to the alertness of the Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital management and the prompt action of the police.

Dr. Santosh Sonkar, Superintendent of Ambedkar Hospital, has immediately removed the security guard on duty for the lapse in ward security. He has also appealed to all the admitted patients in the maternity ward not to interact with any unknown or unfamiliar people.

Any suspicious person should be reported to the ward security guard, nurse, doctor, or the police assistance center located in the hospital to prevent any untoward incident. He also congratulated the security guard team and the police involved in finding the baby, saying that the baby was saved from being kidnapped due to the team’s quick thinking and active efforts in a very short time.

Details of the incident are as follows:
The hospital management was informed that a one-day-old baby boy of Neeta Satnami, wife of Bed Vyas Satnami, resident of Gram Doma, Thana Arang, Raipur, admitted to Ward No. 6 of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Ambedkar Hospital, was missing.

Along with this, the police station Maudahapara was also informed through the family members. As soon as the hospital’s police assistance center, security team, and police administration received this information, the CCTV footage installed in the hospital was quickly examined. Taking the incident seriously, the hospital superintendent Dr. Santosh Sonkar himself directed the security team to search for the baby at places like the bus stand and railway station.

The CCTV footage showed a woman taking the newborn baby out through the Ayushman gate. The accused woman was seen leaving the ward number 6 of the hospital with the baby at 1:09 pm after taking the baby out of the ward number 6 at 1:07 pm. Thereafter, the police team recovered the baby with two women from platform number 5 of the railway station.

The baby was brought back to the hospital and examined by the doctors where he was found to be healthy. He was then handed over to the parents. The baby’s mother, Neeta Satnami, told that she came to Ambedkar Hospital on January 3 with her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law for delivery and was admitted to ward number 6, bed number 1 at around 7.30 pm. Where she gave birth to a baby boy at 11.15 pm at night. Two women named Rani Sahu and Payal Sahu, along with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, introduced themselves and on the next day, i.e., January 4, these two women had food with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law near the gate of ward number 6.

When her mother-in-law went to wash her hands and came back, the newborn baby was not on the bed. Rani Sahu and Payal Sahu were also not visible. Then she suspected. She informed the hospital and the police. On the basis of the information, the newborn baby was safely recovered due to the active efforts of the hospital management and security team and the police action.

In summary, a newborn baby was kidnapped from a hospital but was later recovered due to the timely intervention of the hospital staff and the police. CCTV footage played a crucial role in identifying the culprits and locating the baby.
