US President Donald Trump has called for national unity amid criticism over his response to a recent clash between white supremacists and protesters in the state of Virginia.
Trump told a meeting of veterans in the western state of Nevada yesterday that people are not defined by the color of their skin, the figure on their paycheck or the party of their politics.
The president said it is time to heal the wounds that divide people and seek a new unity based on the common values that unite people.
He has recently criticized media over reporting on his response to the clash in Virginia, but he refrained from doing it at the meeting, apparently to calm the situation.
Meanwhile, an American university poll released yesterday shows 60 percent of respondents disapprove of the president’s response to the clash in Charlottesville, Virginia. The poll also shows 62 percent think Trump is doing more to divide the country.
