
US Defence Minister, James Mattis and South Korean Defence Minister Song Young-moo held an in-depth telephonic talk to discuss the cancellation of their countries’ joint military maneuvers in an effort to facilitate the Korean Peninsula’s denuclearization.
The talk revolved around the Ulchi Freedom Guardian annual large-scale joint military exercise. Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said Mattis and Song discussed how the two nations are working together to fulfil the US President’s guidance on US-South Korean combined military exercises.
